Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 July 2026
BRBsocials Ltd (trading as BRB Socials and Cupid Services, "we", "us") is a New Zealand company. We operate brbsocials.com and run speed dating and social events across New Zealand and Australia. This policy explains how we handle personal information, in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and, where applicable, the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. What we collect
- Account and booking details: name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, and your city, collected when you register, buy tickets, or create an account.
- Event participation: check-in records, feedback and ratings you leave, notes you send to other attendees, matches, and messages you send through our chat feature.
- Photos and video: photos you upload, and photos or video taken at our events (see section 5).
- Technical data: cookies needed to keep you logged in, and standard device and usage information.
- Payments: ticket payments are processed by our ticketing partner, Humanitix. We never receive or store your card details.
2. How we use it
- Running events and processing bookings.
- Matching you with other attendees and powering post-event features (such as the Who's Who guide and match results).
- Sending service emails about your bookings and events.
- Sending marketing emails about upcoming events, which you can stop at any time (section 6).
- Improving our events and services.
- Keeping our events safe, including keeping records related to conduct at events.
3. Sharing your information
We share your contact details with other attendees only as you direct — through the choices you make on your match card or post-event forms.
We use trusted service providers to operate: Humanitix (ticketing and payments), Postmark (email delivery), our website hosting provider, and Meta (advertising, see section 4). Each receives only what it needs to do its job. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
We never sell your personal information.
4. Tracking and advertising
Our emails record when they are opened and which links are clicked, so we can tell what's working and stop sending what isn't. Our website uses the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) pixel, which means you may see our ads on those platforms and we may use site activity to build advertising audiences. We use cookies to keep you logged in; we don't run third-party analytics cookies beyond the above.
5. Photography and video
By attending our events you consent to being photographed and filmed, and to our use of those images and videos for social media, marketing, advertising, our website, and other promotional purposes. If you don't want to appear, email us at admin@cupidservices.co.nz before the event or tell a host at check-in, and we'll avoid filming you.
For some event formats we use attendee photos to create a Who's Who guide that helps attendees put faces to names after the event. It is only visible to people who attended the same event.
6. Marketing emails
Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately. Unsubscribing stops marketing; we'll still send the service emails your bookings need (like your ticket confirmation and event details).
7. How long we keep it, and deleting your account
We keep personal information only while we need it for the purposes above. You can delete your account at any time from your Email Preferences page, or by contacting us. When you do, we remove your profile, photos, notes and messages. We keep anonymised event feedback, anonymised ticket records for our business records, and a minimal record of the deletion. If you've asked us never to contact you, we keep your email address on a do-not-contact list for exactly that purpose.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information. No online system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, by emailing admin@cupidservices.co.nz. If you have a privacy concern, contact us first and we'll do our best to resolve it. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the NZ Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz) or, in Australia, the OAIC (oaic.gov.au).
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the date above. Continued use of our services means you accept the current version.
11. Who can use our services
Our events and website are for people aged 18 and over.
